About Us

Mission

Our mission is to create a new generation of cell therapies based on science, ethics and the precision of molecular biology.
We want the innovations developed in our laboratories to have a real impact on improving quality of life – currently for animals, and in the future for humans – by regenerating damaged tissues, supporting repair processes and reducing the need for pharmacotherapy.

Values

  • Science and transparency – we base our activities exclusively on verified scientific research and publications in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Ethics and safety – we design processes in accordance with GLP/GMP principles and international VICH and EMA standards.
  • Innovation and practice – we combine academic and implementation experience to create solutions that can move from the laboratory to the clinic.
  • Partnership and interdisciplinarity – we collaborate with universities, clinical centres and biotechnology companies in Europe and the USA.

Scientific leaders

Sanford Biotech is a team of specialists in cell therapy and regenerative medicine for veterinary medicine.

We combine laboratory practice, clinical experience and ethical standards to provide safe and effective solutions for animals.

Dr n. biol. Joanna Sanford

Laboratory Director

Dr Joanna Sanford is an experienced biologist and expert in the field of cell therapy, with experience gained in Poland, Germany and the United States, Visiting Professor at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences. She collaborated with Prof. Denis English at the Florida Foundation for Stem Cells Research and Development, leading projects in the field of regenerative medicine.

She has participated in stem cell transplants in patients with haematological diseases, capillary reconstruction in mastectomy implants, and jawbone reconstruction using stem cells.

She specialises in immunology, microbiology, cryopreservation, and cell signalling. At Sanford Biotech, she manages the laboratory and stem cell bank, ensuring the highest scientific and ethical standards in working with animal biological material.

Prof. Denis English

Scientific Director

Professor of medicine at the University of South Florida, recognised as one of the pioneers of stem cell research and its application in transplantology. Founder and long-time editor-in-chief of the prestigious scientific journal Stem Cells and Development. Author of nearly 200 scientific publications and expert on numerous grant committees in the USA.

At Sanford Biotech, he is responsible for scientific direction and development strategy, combining international experience with the practical implementation of cell therapies in veterinary medicine.

Dorota Kędziorek-Walczak, MD, PhD

Scientific Consultant, Sanford Biotech

A researcher affiliated with Johns Hopkins University (Baltimore, USA), where she conducted projects on the use of mesenchymal bone marrow stem cells in the treatment of peripheral vascular diseases in animals.
Her previous work focused on modern imaging methods and the use of stem cells in the treatment of neurological disorders.

At Sanford Biotech, she supports the development of research projects, particularly in the field of monitoring and imaging the effects of cell therapies.

Piotr Walczak, MD, PhD

Scientific Consultant, Sanford Biotech

Professor of radiology and cellular engineering, formerly affiliated with Johns Hopkins University, currently working at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and collaborating with the University of Warmia and Mazury.

He specialises in research on stem cell migration and differentiation and their application in regenerative neurology.
At Sanford Biotech, he advises on the development and implementation of innovative cell therapy methods in veterinary medicine.
